Why Change is Hard

20-02-2025

Change is hard. It is. If it would be easy then everyone would do it. Everyone that would be  unhealthy would be healthy within a matter of 2 weeks. People that are too heavy for their personal taste would be svelte within a month. Your sister in law would stop being a cry baby and morph into a super happy clappy lady overnight. Why is it hard to change? It is complex, but simple...

The Mind, The Body & Emotions

When you think a thought your brain makes chemicals. These chemicals create a feeling response in the body.

It starts in the mind with a thought, the thought causes nerve cells in the brain to connect, then a chemical is made by the brain. The chemical is then send to the body and this chemical causes a feeling response, an emotion in the body.

Any feeling or emotion causes an unseen, and a very real vibratory effect. If you need an image with this, remember a time when you walked into a room where people just had had an argument or where they had just been gossiping. A very palpable feeling, is it not?

Habitual thoughts & emotions

When you keep thinking the same, or the same kinds of thoughts, these thoughts become automatic, and now the nerve cells connect together because they have been called to 'work together' so often. Your thought is now a literal connecting path between certain nerve cells in your brain.

This thought has become a habit. It has become a belief.

a habit is a settled or regular tendency or practice.

That is not the only automation that has happened. Also the chemical that has been sent to the body, has been delivered over and over and over again. This is now also an automated process and it has caused the body to vibrate at a certain frequency.

"Emotions are a series of chemical reactions within our brains, controlled by the complex cooperation of neurotransmitters and hormones."

Emotional Addiction

Just like food, emotions are addictive too. Anyone that has been addicted to smoking, alcohol or other drugs knows that it is not enough to know it is bad for you.

Emotions are a bit sneakier, you often don't realize that these have become addictive. So this is how it happens.

The thought that has become a habitual thought, that belief... This belief has been causing the body to receive a certain set of chemicals that caused a particular emotion. The good news is, is that all emotions are addictive and when these emotions are good ones to have like elation and joy and exuberance then your body will assist you in producing these when your mind is temporarily distracted.

The other news is, that this also counts for not so helpful emotions like frustration, hopelessness, disgust, anger, sadness and such.

When you decide to start thinking differently, because you know that this is where change starts, your body will protest at first. It feels off because these new thoughts, create new chemicals, that create new feelings and emotions that it is not used to.  So while on paper these new emotions might be good, they do not feel familiar and therefor your body will feel confused at the least.

But. And. Just like with anything that is new and unfamiliar, with repetition it becomes a pattern and familiar.
